Rachel Millington, 24, has been living as a woman for a year and plans to eventually have gender reassignment surgery.
She worked as a support worker for people with learning disabilities.
She claims that her employer terminated her contract after she changed her name and began presenting herself as a woman.
Ms Millington told the Lincolnshire Echo she did not know of any other reason why her contracted ended and will take the company to a tribunal next month.
The company, which was not named by the newspaper, declined to comment.
