Sorry Mr Stewart – your concern for this teen is a red herring. It may be well intentioned but it is misplaced

The reality is, is that Britain has absolutely no influence on Iran while imposing sanctions on Iran due to their nuclear program.

Your concern for LGBT citizens living in murderously homophobic regimes would be better aimed at countries where Britain actualy has an influence ie the Commonwealth.

I want to see the government tell backward regimes like Uganda, Kenya, Jamaica and Malawi that British aid from this point forward is dependent on those regimes fully decriminalising homoisexuality.

I think Britain should ask China or Brazil to intervene on this teenager’s behalf. Those countries can actually influence Iran.

  2. @ Simon Murphy

Ireland has no influence period so stop bitching.

As a gay man and Tory MP Mr Stewart has every right to highlight his concerns to the minister.

I would hope Mr Hague calls the Iranian ambassador in to explain his explain his countries actions. Further more as a permanent member of the UN security council we can highlight this in the UN also.

I’m not sure Ireland could do anything without the Popes permission first!

Helen – what an unpleasant and ill-informed person you seem.

I am not bashing the UK when I make the the statement that the UK has no influence on Iran. Considering the sanctions in place against Iran which are fully supported by Britain, perhaps you can explain to me why Iran would listen to the UK (who they regard as the poodle of the US).

Why you have a problem with Britain asking countries that actually DO have an influence on Iran (China, or Brazil or Venezuela for example) is beyond me.

Why you have a problem with Britain putting pressure on regimes which they can actually have an influence (Jamaica, Uganda etc) is beyond me.

As for your xenophobic and entirely irrelevant and inflammatory comments about Ireland – well they speak volumes about what an ignorant and uneducated person you are.

  4. I have no time for these backward fuc@@rs. I have stopped giving to any charities where these homophobic religious hate pedlars rule.

    Hardly on either count.
