Oh and Ms Berger – just in case you think that Stonewall speak on behalf of the LGBT community, I believe you should think again.
Stonewall has totally delegitimsed itself through its support for civil partnership apartheid, and many LGBT people (myself included) believe that Stonewall should disband.
Other readers have said that the Lib Dems in Liverpool aren’t very gay-friendly. That’s the more likely explanation for their absence. It’s strange they couldn’t take even one day off to celebrate Pride. And if you think about it, Pride would have been a great opportunity to help advance their marriage campaign.

Luciana Berger – the writer of this piece – is the Labour MP for Liverpool.
Perhaps she can confirm that civil marrage equality is now the official position of the Labour Party?
If it is not, then I see no reason why any LGBT person would be interested in voting for Labour.
I mean why should we vote for a party that favours civil partnership apartheid and regards us as 2nd class citizens.
