Luciana Berger – the writer of this piece – is the Labour MP for Liverpool.

Perhaps she can confirm that civil marrage equality is now the official position of the Labour Party?

If it is not, then I see no reason why any LGBT person would be interested in voting for Labour.

I mean why should we vote for a party that favours civil partnership apartheid and regards us as 2nd class citizens.

Oh and Ms Berger – just in case you think that Stonewall speak on behalf of the LGBT community, I believe you should think again.

Stonewall has totally delegitimsed itself through its support for civil partnership apartheid, and many LGBT people (myself included) believe that Stonewall should disband.

  3. I guess the lib dems were busily campaigning for gay marriage and true equality -

if you want to join their campaign sign this :

  4. Other readers have said that the Lib Dems in Liverpool aren’t very gay-friendly. That’s the more likely explanation for their absence. It’s strange they couldn’t take even one day off to celebrate Pride. And if you think about it, Pride would have been a great opportunity to help advance their marriage campaign.
