Portia de Rossi to become Portia DeGeneres
Actress Portia de Rossi is to take her wife Ellen DeGeneres’ surname.
The couple married in California in 2008 and remained known by their own surnames.
However, de Rossi, 37, has now filed a petition at an LA court to change her name to Portia DeGeneres.
This will be the second time the Arrested Development actress has changed her name, as she was born Amanda Lee Rogers but changed it at the age of 15.
De Rossi filed her petition just two days after a California judge ruled that Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage in California, was unconstitutional.
The couple married several months before Prop 8 passed in a small ceremony.
Last year, de Rossi revealed that she cried when the gay marriage ban came into force.
