  1. Did someone just shout out closet case? You there at the back see me after school.

  2. Yet another nutter who believes Christians should have the right to discriminate. Disgraceful.

  3. Clearly he has serious “issues” about his own sexuality otherwise why else does he feel it necessary to make homophobic comments? As we so often find with people this him, “the lady doth protesteth [a little] too much”!

  4. What an ARSE !

Would he hold that attitude if he had been born Gay. Being religious is only by indoctrination, nothing more.

  6. As we all know, opposing ‘promotion’ of homosexuality is code for being opposed to kids having access to accurate information about sexuality, as opposed to hateful slanders. It means teenagers who think they might be gay having no one to turn to (except spiteful Christians who will tell them that they are perverted).

There is one statement that Philip Lardner makes that is factually incorrect. It is *not* the case that Britain is a “broadly Christian country”. If it were, the Conservative Party wouldn’t have deselected him.

  7. It’s as normal to be homosexual as it is to be heterosexual
but it is not normal to be a homophobe it’s just plain common like Philip Lardner.

  8. Why was this guy suspended from the Tory Party when the likes of Philippa Stroud and Chris Grayling were not?

Are there double standards at play?

The reason he was booted out is because the North Ayrshire ward
he was standing in is and has always been a staunchly labour
    ward.

He would have had zero change of getting many votes, thus he was a prim candidate for the boot as the Tories had nothing to lose, and at the same time appear to be pro-gay..

  10. I find it extraordinary that people are still talking about section 28 being about stopping the state ‘promotion’ of homosexuality. As JohnnyH rightly points out it was all about opposing young people being given accurate information about sexuality. I am pleased however that he is going to challenge his disciplinary hearing. (No doubt the Christian Institute and the Christian Legal Centre or whatever will take up his case). We have had a few setbacks along the way, but the vast majority of legal judgements fall in our favour and expose the challenges for what they are – ill informed, bigoted attempts to challenge the hard won rights of gay people.

  11. why not email him and ask him?

  12. another homophobe with no grasp of reality

  13. A majority christian country? Then why did the majority party, who have been traditionally the most christian of the three main parties just deselect him? Or maybe the country is christian, but just not his narrow minded, bigoted view of what that entails?

  14. I only wish I knew why they talk about it quite so much.

  15. Yet another fool who seems to think that referring to “belief” trumps every argument – but is so far out of the British loop that he hasn’t a clue that the word “belief” is the equivalent of putting a flashy blue light on top of his head and shouting out through a loudspeaker “I am a looney ” What planet do these people live on?

It’s just the itsy bitsy teenie weenie, very very tiny tip of the iceberg, and a lamb had to be sacrificed. David Chameleon can now preoccupy himself in hiring detectives to snoop on the sick, old and poor.

  17. What this poor confused guy says in such a bundle of contradictions he probably could use a brain transplant.

There are no shades of equality Philip and you can’t say you respect people while wrongly branding them less than normal.

Quite right he would not encourage children to indulge in homosexuality …hopefully no more than he would encourage children to indulge in heterosexuality.

The man is an absolute lame brain, fire him now.

  18. ‘indulge’? does he realise thats pretty muich admitting he wants to screw other guys?

  19. Indulge? I might ‘indulge’ in a chocolate sundae or a premier seat at the pictures, but Homosexuality?. That’s a new one on me.

  20. How long will it be before we hear a report about this man and rent boys? Purely for “research purposes” of course

dunno why but his comments remind me of those people who start a sentence with ‘im not racist.. BUT’ ahh good old intelectual dishonesty

  22. “He has vowed to challenge the decision.”

    Still waiting!

Philip Lardner has honestly and imo with restraint and without malice given his views, which until recently would have been shared by most people in this country. I do not sense any homophobia in his remarks. While my own views on homosexuality has softened since visiting these forums I worry that the sort of actions that have been taken against Mr Lardner will lead to entranced antipathy between those who like me are holding tradition Christian views and those who aren’t.
