Spence told the Sun he ignores the abuse because he gets plenty of support from straight male fans.
He said: “There has been the odd letter calling me a fag and a c**t and what not, but I pay no attention
“What I focus on more is the builders and straight guys who come up to me on the street and hug me and kiss me, they love it.”
Spence, 41, added: “I’m not interested in turning straight guys, but I love the attention, and as for the people who write those letters, I think, ‘So what – you’re not saying anything I don’t know’.”
