US singer Kelis is to headline Manchester’s Pride festival next month.

The star, whose top hits are Milkshake and Acapella, will perform on Sunday August 29th in the city.

Other acts confirmed for the event’s 20th birthday are Beverley Knight, Belinda Carlisle, ex-Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon, Adam Rickett, Dragonette and Chicane.

Jackie Crozier, festival director of Manchester Pride, said: “The main stage entertainment is all about letting your hair down and having a good time. Kelis has had some amazing hits over the years and will no doubt really get the crowd going.

“I think it’s safe to say this is going to be a Big Weekend to remember.”

The cast and crew of Coronation Street are also set to join the city’s Pride parade on a special Corrie float.

Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend takes place between Friday 27th and Monday 30th of August, with the parade on Saturday.

Tickets are £17.50 and can be purchased at www.manchesterpride.com or at various venues across the city.
