New Jersey court refuses to hear gay marriage case

  1. Sounds very promising. One of my pansexual friends lives down in NJ, so she will hopefully come back from her vacation to find out her state has marriage for her if she ends up dating another gal.

    Heres to promising a quick send through the lower courts, and that the supreme court should realize that when they said “The Supreme Court ruled in 2006 that gay couples must be granted all the rights of marriage and left the legislature to decide how this should be enacted.”, that another right of marriage is the benefit of the name. Its a statement of love, and one more people recognize over partnerships.

    It’s a setback, to be sure — but not a dead end. It’ll just take a little bit longer to make it happen.

    And meanwhile in Minnesota, there’s a promising new tactic to overturn gay marriage bans by establishing strong domestic partnerships. Obviously domestic partnerships aren’t the same as equal protection under the law, but as we’ve seen, they’re a good way to chip away at discriminatory constitutional amendments.
