John Barrowman to host charity gala West End Bares
Gay actor John Barrowman is to host the Broadway charity gala West End Bares in London.
The long-running burlesque-style event will be coming to the city for two performances in September and features “the hottest male and female dancers in the West End. . . strutting their stuff’ to benefit TheatreMAD and the Make A Difference Trust.
Barrowman, a former Broadway star best known for his appearances in Doctor Who and Torchwood, is a patron of the Make A Difference Trust, which raises funds for people with HIV and AIDS.
He said: “I’m thrilled to be hosting West End Bares. What a way to make a difference – being a little naughty on stage for a wonderful cause.”
The actor recently revealed he had asked the producers of US hit comedy Glee for a part in the show.
He told Heat: “I have no idea if I’ll be in it, I met with their casting people and I said I’d love to be in it – I’d be good as one of Rachel’s gay dads!”
“The ball’s in their court, though,” he added.
West End Bares: Strip Britannia will be held on September 5th at Cafe de Paris, Coventry Street, with shows at 9.30pm and midnight. Tickets are £30-50 and can be booked by calling 020 7734 5683, extension 104.
