  1. He’s 22 years old – and out of the blue decides he’s gay. From now on the whole sitcom will be about sex. That’s why this series is on after the watershed.

  2. yay! I’m a huge fan of the show, and Michael was always my favourite (the fact I fancy Gabriel Thompson has nothing to do with it!). It’ll be nice having some gay bits in there for a change – I always thought they were missing a trick by not having a gay character in there to be honest.

As for the age of the character upon coming out… well, I only admitted to myself that I was gay at 22, so I can’t see why there should be any fuss. It’s quite common.

  3. .. hm. I can’t see this being a good thing. It seems a realistic enough idea, but it’s pretty well out-of-the-blue for a show which I once loved but died the moment it settled into the Abby/Roger rut. Still, I’m glad the writers might not make a hideous mess of the event.

  4. I have a horrible feeling I’m going to end up doing that one day.

  5. “He’s 22 years old – and out of the blue decides he’s gay.”

Well he beat me by about 5 years then!

  6. Does anyone still watch this Garbage? Enough Already

  7. I think the problem with the credibility of this story line is there have never been any clues in previous series. My family reacted with ‘so what?’ as they (especially my mother) worked it out before I did.

  8. Funny its always guys coming out as gay. There seems to be two daughters in this family; how about one of them be lesbian too? Oh, too feminine are they? Or too sane? Wouldn’t do for them to get drunk perhaps, so no way to write it into to the plot?

  9. Whoopdey-bleeding-do!So ‘My Family’ is to have a gay character! What the hell took ’em so long?Worried they might have be seen to be jumping on the bandwagon, were they? And I think the only realistic element is that he has reached 22 before deciding to,drunkedly, out himself. Not everyone is shouting out they’re gay at 12! I guess we’ll have to see how this scenario develops.

  10. Sorry I haven’t seen this “sitcom” in years and I don’t think this will change the bad writing and stupid storylines.
