11:12 AM — Ted Haggard, the American evangelical preacher who resigned over allegations he had used male prostitutes, has set up a new church. He urged gays and lesbians to join his services.
Emmerdale ranked best soap for dealing with gay characters 5
10:41 AM — Emmerdale has been ranked top of the main three soaps for its depiction of gays and lesbians. Gay charity Stonewall polled more than 1,000 supporters on the issue. Forty-four per cent said Emmerdale was the best, while EastEnders came second on 43 per cent. Coronation Street came last with 13 per cent of the vote.

2:04 AM — A London pub has been reported to the police following an alleged homophobic comment made by its manager to the Labour Party's LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans) group. The comments have sparked widespread condemnation by senior labour figures including leadership candidate Ed Balls and Sarah Brown, the wife of former prime minister Gordon Brown and former deputy prime minister John Prescott.
