Gay icon Kylie Minogue is to play at Madrid Pride this weekend.

Fresh from a surprise Glastonbury appearance with the Scissor Sisters, the star will take centre stage at Saturday’s event, which is the largest gay festival in Europe.

Her performance is expected to include her new single All the Lovers from her latest album Aphrodite.

She said: “I am really very touched.

“For a long time now I have had a special relationship with the gay public and I am pleased that they are counting on me to celebrate such a special occasion.”

Minogue has been voted the greatest gay icon of all time and told a gay magazine last year her gay fans “adopted” her and defended her from criticism when she began her career.
