Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s child ‘wants to be a boy’
Angelina Jolie has said her four-year-old child Shiloh wants to be a boy.
The actress gave an interview to Vanity Fair magazine, in which she discussed her eldest biological child with Brad Pitt.
She said: “She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers.”
Jolie added: “Shiloh, we feel, has Montenegro style.
“She dresses like a little dude. It’s how people dress there. She likes tracksuits, she likes [regular] suits.”
Jolie is apparently not concerned by Shiloh’s clothing choices and added that she saw signs of herself in the four-year-old.
“Shiloh’s hysterically funny, one of the goofiest, most playful people you’ll ever meet,” she said. “Goofy and verbal, the early signs of a performer. I used to get dressed up in costumes and jump around.”
Last year, Pitt told Oprah Winfrey that Shiloh preferred to be called John.
“We’ve got to call her John,” he said, adding that the child would interrupt when addressed as Shiloh.
Child psychologists say wanting to be the opposite gender is common in young children and most will grow up happy in the gender they were born in.
However, a small number are transgender and may eventually live in the opposite gender they were born in as adults.
Jolie and Pitt are also parents to eight-year-old Maddox, Pax, six, Zahara, five and one-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
The pair have spoken out for gay marriage before and Pitt said last year that having a gay child wouldn’t bother him “one bit”.
