  1. I just wonder what funding the church was looking to tap into by holding this!

  2. if you believe a word of what they were doing…….

  3. “Lets pretend not to be homophobic”
. . . when everyone know that they are,
The only people being fooled are themselves

  4. I wish gayv groups would stop granting legitimacy to these superstition based religions by attending these type of events.

  5. Sorry for the negative comments above, but here’s an example of the Bishop and the Dean of Manchester welcoming the Gay community en masse into their Cathedral.
Although I wholeheartedly agree that the C of E is indeed dreadfully homophobic due in part to African culture and closet priests who are too confused to “Come Out”, here is an example of two very influential Christians who have welcomed the Gay community into their church.
They should be thanked for giving us the venue and congratulated on their courage to stand by us.

  6. er, a step in the right direction?

  7. Rich,
    I sincerely hope so!

I thought I rrecognised the face – he’s my former bishop! Having met him a few times, I have nothing to say against him. He’s lovely and very tolerant (although as the last time I heard him speak I was 11, I think, I can’t comment on specific issues.) If you’re standing outside, you can comment all you like on the entrenched homophobia of the Church of England, but I have never encountered criticism of homosexuality within the church – unlike the criticism of my religion that I’ve received from within the gay community! We all have the right to a faith, and this article is about an instance where peopel of faith are standing up for your rights and welcoming you. Now shut up and have the courtesy to dso the same for them, and turn your attentions to those who deserve your scorn.

  9. OOOOOOoooops, Galadriel1010; what a loud silence!
You’ve killed THIS debate stone dead for a start!

  10. Totally agree with Galadriel1010 and barry.

  11. Yes, well said Galadriel – looking in from the outside, the Church sometimes appears to spend all its time hyperventilating about gay people and being unpleasant to Episcopalians. It is nice to be reminded that this isn’t the only story – thankyou.

  12. Never mind what the bishop says-

    1 Cor 6:9-10
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

  13. Romans 1,2 and 3. Read before you criticise.

Peace to all and may God open your eyes.

Why should I choose the message of someone who was speaking for God two thousand years ago, over the word of someone speaking for God today? They’re no different.
So do excuse me if I get my dating advice contemporaneously and from people I trust.
