“He said Pride was “really urging” the council to allow the dance stage to be placed in Leicester Square in order to have a “big attraction” to lure crowds out of Soho.”

Except the fact the area is full of tourists already, there are virtually no bars, and none of them are gay.

We have our own gay area, so why can’t we just have access to it?

Can’t help wondering if this ‘Health & Safety’ issue is more about pathetic things that we saw with Labour, like the cheese rolling banning. Being thats its a gay event doesn’t help I’m sure.

Sure people have the right to feel safe but most know common sense which Labour deemed a Health and Safety issue in itself. It sounds more like a penny pinching council to me, forget that this event will bring in mountains of money, yeah thats not important.

I find it hilarious that the usual Tory apologists are trying to blame Labour for this. Westminster Council is Tory run and we have a Tory government! I stubbed my toe this morning – should I blame Gordon Brown for that?

And while I’m annoyed that the focus of the day is being driven away from Soho, overcrowding has been a major problem in previous years even when access to the area has been clear – so I think this is being driven by genuine concerns rather than overzealous health and safety jobsworths.

Arnt all gay events about money, they all see profit before anything, so they will be upset at restrictions.

However given that ‘pride’ is an outdated institution, that is commercialy about making profit, 7,000 poofs is more then enough for London to cope with.

Ku Bar is just off Leicester Square if you like mingling with 18 year old hair dressers with bad highlights.

  7. Hi Moogie

Just for clarity. Pride London is a charity. We are not there to make profit. We are entirely run by volunteers and pay no salaries.

You can read more about the organization at our website http://www.pridelondon.org

    Regards
    Colm
