It would of been better justified on child protection grounds to ban Catholics I would of thought!

  2. Pretty amazing this story is still ongoing. I remember first hearing about it in May 2008.

The Scouts is a private organization, and the ruling in 2000 indeed allows them to set their own enrollment qualkifications; however, no truly private organization can expect to be granted permanent rent-free digs by the City. They should feel lucky that the City isn;t asking for back rent.

I go with Friday Jones. Private members clubs should be allowed to have who they want. However, by the same token, they should not expect public money if not all members of the public are allowed to join.

That said, I still think it’s bloody stupid that the Boy Scouts has been forced to accept girls, mind you, I think most of them wear dunagrees and listen to KD Lang ;)

  6. Just in case there’s any confusion: the Scout Movement in Britain does ban gay leaders. The Scout Association has an equal opportunities policy which welcomes the involvement of gay young people as members and adults as leaders.

  9. Don’t feel alone – Australia is also quite slow to progress. It’s as though the English speaking world is dominated by morons. Boring morons with no sense of the possibilites that the future may hold for their children in a world united by inclusivity and honest understanding that people all have differing aspects to our characters, whether it be the style of music we prefer, the sports we play, or the lovers we choose. Gosh, it’s as though people like being told what to think, and who to play with… Oh, wait, most do. :-(
