Manchester Pride have revealed their Big Weekend lineup for this summer. Artists set to perform include 1980s stars Belinda Carlisle and Heaven 17, soul singer Beverly Knight, electro outfit May 68 and local indie band The Sticks.

Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend runs from Friday 27 August to Monday 30 Aug and will be celebrating its 20th birthday this year. The director of the festival, Jackie Crozier, said: “Tell your family, friends and colleagues to come along and support the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people that they know, as nothing is more powerful than seeing the city coming together to celebrate LGBT life and people.”

The Pride parade theme this year is ‘Through the Decades’ as a number of Manchester-based charities are celebrating milestone birthdays this year including the Lesbian & Gay Foundation celebrating ten years, Queer Up North 18 years and George House Trust 25 years. On top of this, Manchester-set soap opera Coronation Street is celebrating its 50th year on television.

The key aim of the festival is to raise cash for Manchester’s LGBT and HIV charities. Last year’s festival raised a record-breaking £135,000.

Early Bird tickets are already on sale for £12.50. For more information and ticket sales, go to manchesterpride.com.
