What, there wasn’t an on-going LGBT concern in the UK that he could put this face to?

  3. The US is a much nastier place to come out as gay than the UK, especially in the bible belt. Radcliffe may make a difference.

And I believe him when he says he isn’t gay: he’s little reason to hide it, he’s spoken clearly of his support for LGBTxyz and the reasons.

If he does come out at some time then he will have to explain imself

It would be great if he could do something to condemn homophobic bullying. Perhaps he’s living in America at the moment?

I can’t say with any certainty whether he is closet or not, only time will tell.
However it’s a sad state of affairs if self-professed straight celebs can’t take a positive stand on gay mental health issues in case they are branded as gay by association.
If you want to nip the LGBT drive for respect and equality in the bud, that would be one way of doing it.
As far as I’m concerned Radcliffe is straight until he indicates otherwise.

I do agree. People have a right to be straight as well as to be gay.

I am delighted that a straight person is fine with doing work on a subject like this.

  7. I agree with 5 and 6 above.

Shame really when someone straight, gay, bisexual or transgendered does something extremely valuable to help the weakest and most vulnerable in our community, yet all some can do is bitch and carp on about ´couldn´t he find something better to do?´ etc etc… For gods sake guys, get some perspective!

As he said, “If this brief PSA makes even one lost and alone young person aware of the Trevor Helpline and the lifesaving support it offers, then it will have been an endeavor well worth making.” Yes. If it saves the life of just ONE gay or lesbian teenager, then it will be the most valuable film he will make in his whole life.

Is he gay or bi? I could not give a toss frankly and I, for one, thank him for his efforts!

    Well done Daniel.

Well said. Its always worrying when the minute a straight person stands up for LGBT rights, some speculate he might be a closet case. White people who defend against human rights abuses in Africa, are they “closet black”? What we need are more people like him standing up for us, and given he popularity of Harry Potter among the younger generations, he’s doing a superb job and well done to him too!

Man, I love to hear this positive spin on Daniel.

He is a special person, no doubt about it.

  10. Just be grateful he speaks out and cares enough to do so no matter what his sexuality is!!! WELL DONE YOUNG DANIEL!

  11. He acts like an angel as well as looking like one! An unusual combination.

  12. I agree with many of the comments above, there’s something special about people who’re willing to take a disinterested stand. Full marks to Radcliffe, I wish there were more young men like him around.

Hang on a minute! Disinterested stand – he is clearly very interested and passionate about the rights of gay people.

Look – I am white in appearance and British by nationality but, for instance, I loathe racism and am prepared to stand hand-in-hand with black, asian etc…. people to fight the horrendous discriminatory situations that still exist in modern day Britian – why is it so hard to believe that people can cross borders through empathy, attunement, and love – and stand up for the rights of people with whom they share both commonalities and differences. This says nothng about Daniel Radcliffe’s sexuality – and everyting about his open heart and mind. Good on him!

Oh Richard, you know very well there’s a difference between “uninterested” and “disinterested”.

    Besides that, loved your comment.
