And no one finds breaking and entering problematic at all?

    I, too, blame the religion.

Dr. Shrinivas Ramchndra Siras was 64, not 62. Just a detail, but there is a strong suspicion that this whole thing was mounted to deprive Dr. Siras of his pension. He was about to retire.

The students who walked into his rooms (the door was unlocked) were in fact breaking a campus rule: Aligarth Muslim University Students Conduct and Discipline Rules (1985), Part II; 4; vii. In other words, the students were in fact harassing a professor, and they were not allowed in the professors’ quarters.

The Vice-Chancellor, who received the film, sided with the criminals instead of the victim, but to no avail because consensual gay sex is no longer considered a criminal offense in India.

Because the incident took place at a Muslim University, it may appear quite logical to jump to the conclusion that Dr. Siras was being punished for religious reasons as per sharia law.

However, there’s more to this than meets the eye and Indian gay NGO’s are now circulating a petition asking the President of India to delve more profondly into this case:

So much hate, discrimination, and crucifixtion by those who profess to be spreading good in the world. God created Gays for God’s reason. Curb the world’s overpopulation, find loving parents for children abandoned by straights…gotta trust in God’s plan. There will always be bigots, they need only look around them to see: WHAT ONE SOWS, SO SHALL THEY REAP! I pray deeply that they are enlightened to why they are reaping what they presently are!

  7. The way he has been hounded to his death brings to mind Saint Alan Turing. The people who did this must be caught and punished.

The police have the names and it appears the rickshaw driver was also an accomplice.

The comparison with Alan Turing is quite right; Dr. Siras was an award-winning poet and a genius in Indian Literature.

  11. What a shameful event in India a so called democratic country. All well thinking Indians should be more progressive and ask the political leaders of the country to allow gay relationship and be a beacon to the world. Is this how the muslim educational establishment is going to deal with it? What an ignorant religion.

    Circumstances are coming to light:

Algarh Muslim University appears to be rotting in corruption, not to mention the on campus spy ring.
