  5. just occasionally the glitz and paint of showbusiness and the egos get dazzled by a good deed in a nasty world.

I know nothing of this woman save that people like her make humanity worth saving

What a disgrace. If this ‘shelter’ was open only to heterosexuals,, or blacks,, or Jews,, or whites,, then you muppets would be hooting and hollering and screaming like a bunch of effing monkeys. This is yet more reverse discrimination,, no different from the Miss Black America pageant,,,or a Men-only Golf club,,, or a High School Prom where Lesbians are not allowed to bring their female dates. You people set equality back 20 years. You make me puke. THINK before you TYPE.

I highly suspect most LGBT young or old would probably be turned away, esp if openly, from ‘help’ hostels so Realist you arguement is already seriously flawed.

If a hetersexual youngster needed the help they wouldn’t have to put up with being shoved from pillar to post in the hope someone would take them in, with the risk no-ne would. Gay people face that discrimination. No doubt your comment to that is more likely, “Oh well, thats life!”

Sadly this macho comment leaves a lot to be desired. Women of violent, abuse relationships have places to go when they need help, you don’t scream discrimination against that. Yet there are plenty of men who suffer such abuse, they have nowhere. No doubt again your comment would “Be a man and take it”

Your a disgrace Realist and a hypocrite. For someone whose trying to be a realist your being as far away from the real world so snuggled up in cotton wool you have absolutely no idea of what eing a ‘Realist’ Really is.

perhaps you have a point, but then how many of the above have been kicked out of their OWN homes for being Black, straight, jewish or white. google it and see if you can find an example. Bet you cant.It is a service that is needed, unfortunatly, created by discrimnation in the first place. Give us equality in everything , then places like this wouldnt be needed. Other wise think before you TYPE!!!!

Pumpkin Pie: try a couple of months on the streets of London or New York. Being homeless makes you incredibly vulnerable. Maybe then Pumpkin Pie you can experience getting your sleeping bag set on fire or being urinated on while you sleep because of your sexuality by other homeless people & the general public.

Being a homeless kid (as I was) I was so incredibly appreciative of the positive action taken by progressive organisations to create LGBT only spaces or LGBT only sessions where I could be openly gay & feel safe at the same time. Not much to ask for is it? Lots of services for homeless people are delivered by faith based organisations who don’t care to look behind the headline of homelessness. To parahrase Squidgy above; inequality created this situation & inequality (calling a spade a spade) is needed to resolve it.

The bottom line? Make absolutely no mistake Cyndi Lauper will SAVE LIVES with this project.

Wow!!!Warms the heart, some one doing good deeds for a Much less than popular cause.
Hope it works out and can with stand misguided nay sayers and other jerks who seem
to not be aware of the need. Youth and the elderly seem to be discards of our community. M
