  1. Do Ryanair do flights to Gibraltar? I suddenly have an itch that needs scratching.

  2. All these archaic laws involving sex acts make me laugh. How do they police the ban on str8 anal sex exactly?

Sounds like the Gibraltar govt. need their heads testing.

  3. More Holy C***p from a socially backward government that uses pathetic excuses to oppress gay people. How do they know when straight people are having anal sex?

  4. “there is no doubt that anal sex carries greater health risks than heterosexual intercourse.”

Since when has anal sex been exclusively homosexual.

What utter morons these people sound.

Gay people would be far better off under Spanish rule. Not only would they have an equal age of consent, but they would have the choice of getting married if they wished.

  5. Gay activist Paul Mitchell 31 Mar 2010, 6:59pm

    Pathetic Gibraltar, just plain pathetic!!!!

All these following places owned by the UK in 2010 have an equal age of consent for all individuals at 16, regardless of their sexual orientation:

    * England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland since 2000
    * Pitcairn Island, Falkland Islands, Sandwich Islands since 2004
    * Jersey, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly, and Isle of Wright since 2006
    * Guernsey, Jethou, Alderney, Herm and Sark since March 2010 (just passed with ALL politicians voting in favour of it)
Things were just recent in Guernsey in regards to the equalisation of the age of consent to 16 for all under the States of Guernsey (the parliament of the island) approved the Sexual Offences (Amendment) (Guernsey) Act 2010.

    GET A MOVE ON GIBRALTAR!!!!!

    Whats the excuse??????

Gibraltar is not the only UK territories who are culprits of unfair age of consent laws imposed on gay men. Bermuda (another UK territory) also has an UNEQUAL age of consent for gay men set at 18, 16 for heterosexuals and lesbians. Also Bermuda also bans anal sex for straights couples as well!!!!!

Tomorrow Spain should declare war on Gibraltar, because that 6 km square land is rightfully owned by the Spanish – the British stole it from them 700 years ago!!!!!

Spain has FULL equality for gay men, lesbians and their same sex partners (including REAL marriages, not FAKE marriages such as civil partnerships)!!!!

  6. Paul Mitchell, you’re absolutely right. The arrogance of our own government is risible. Supposing Gibraltar had same-sex marriage for example. I don’t see our government caving in to accept marriages performed there. Similarly, legally married same-sex couples from the eight countries that allow their gay people to marry would have a hard time living in the UK if they had to, since their marriages would definitely not be classified as such. Its appalling and offencive to put it mildly. If I were a gay Gibraltarian, I’d migrate to Spain and enjoy my full equality there.

  7. There was a bill presented to Parliament in Gibraltar to equalise the age of consent, but it was voted down by the opposition who want to embarrass the Government.

No Gentlemen the UK does not ‘own’ Gibraltar and nobody gets prosecuted for being Gay or sticking it up the wife’s bum.

@Paul Mitchell – shove your childish political views about Spain up yours.

What happens in Gibraltar is a matter for Gibraltarians to decide.

  8. “no doubt that anal sex carries greater health risks than heterosexual intercourse”

That is hilarious! How bizarre and worrying that these politicians are so stupid and ignorant that they think anal sex is gay sex and heterosexual sex doesn’t include anal sex!

  9. Gilbraltar wanted to stay a UK territory as well, so your cry of “Spain should declare war!” is extremely inhuman; they would fight to remain a territory of what I suspect is YOUR country. You just said it was okay for Spain to wage war, an expensive thing (in both life and money), against as you said it… tiny territory!
If you don’t like the law, I suggest you try political activism rather than posting meaningless, stirring-up comments that make no sense in practice.

  10. Brenda Lana Smith R af D 31 Mar 2010, 11:11pm

Have no fear trans- homo- phobic British Overseas Territories… by their empathetic reticence displayed to date… unless internationally embarrassed by a negative European Court of Human Rights verdict… there is little likelihood of any United Kingdom government actually amending any British Overseas Territory’s present gay or gender-variant omissive Human Rights Law by an Order in Council… mind you should the Liberal-Democra hold any sway in Britain’s next government I could welcomingly be proven wrong…

  11. yet again religion and ignorance rears it’s ugly head
equal age of consent should be forced through if required

  12. SimonM: “”there is no doubt that anal sex carries greater health risks than heterosexual intercourse. – Since when has anal sex been exclusively homosexual?”

The article actually states: Anal sex is illegal between men and women.

Sorry to say, but anal sex DOES carry a bigger risk than vaginal sex, which is why HIV was transmitted so fast via gay men.

I am not condoning Gib’s views on this though, and if they can’t make a decent decision of their own free will, then should feel the almighty wrath of the British government bearing down on them.

Which in the current climate means they will do absolutely f_ck all, considering their typical foreign policy of doffing caps and tugging forelocks. Pathetic little turds.

  13. Rob_N, you are wrong when you imply that vaginal sex carries less of a risk in contracting HIV. All it takes is a straight male with HIV to infect a woman that way. Many female prostitutes succombed to HIV earlier on before the disease became the pandemic that it is. There is a myth that it is harder to transmit it vaginally, it is incorrect and dangerous. You only have to look at the emerging countries on the African continent as a primary example where its overwhelmingly heterosexually transmitted via vaginal intercourse. HIV does not discriminate.

  14. Llanito Man 1 Apr 2010, 10:10am

Please do not tarnish all in Gibraltar by the brush of our Government. If you visit my blog llanitoworld.blogspot.com, you will find a lively discussion on this subject with enlightened views on the subject that favour a cahnge in law.

By the way buggery between men and women is presently criminalised in Gibraltar also and heterosexuals have been accused and charged with this offence in very recent times.

  15. I am well aware that anal sex is riskier for HIV transmission than vaginal sex.

I am also aware that anal sex is illegal between opposite sex couples in Gibraltar.

However I am also well aware that even on Gibraltar, some straight couples have anal sex and that some gay couples do not.

My point was that anal sex is not an exclusively homosexual pastime. AnD that whoever made the comment being discussed is a moron.

  16. Looks like Gibraltar gays would be better off if Gibraltar were given back to Spain, getting an equal age of consent and full marriage rights/rites.

  17. Lucio Buffone 1 Apr 2010, 12:34pm

Can’t we just hand it back to Spain

  18. Jean-Paul Bentham 1 Apr 2010, 1:18pm

‘Documents said: “Religious faith plays an important role in our community and is also an important part of its social cohesion which would be undermined.”’

That would be…christianity…??? A theocracy then.

    I C.

  19. Of course the Govt of Gib is being ridiculous, and they will be forced to move with the times. That is the story.

The people who try make this political are diverting attention from the real issue. But if they have to do that, they should at least get their facts right. The statement “Tomorrow Spain should declare war on Gibraltar, because that 6 km square land is rightfully owned by the Spanish – the British stole it from them 700 years ago!!!!!” should check his facts. It was not stolen, it was ceded by Treaty (of Utrecht), after a war, which the UK won and it was not 700 years ago, it was 1713. Somehow, I doubt Spain will actually take up the advice of this dumbo.

  20. Gay activist Paul Mitchell 1 Apr 2010, 4:10pm

I call on the Queen and the UK Labor Government to completly SACK the whole Government of Gibralter right now!!!!!!

  21. Lets be clear, the Government of Gibraltar is elected by the people of Gibraltar to govern the territory. Its OUR Business not yours.

Any 16 year old boy desperate to have anal sex can go to Spain a short walk away, where the age of consent is 13 – much to the joy of paedophiles. Personally I think they should be doing their homework and playing football.

I’d sack the UK Labour Government for being incompetent and destroying the economy and country, but its none of MY business any more than Gibraltar is yours, so to those who want to hand my country over to a foreign state, think again – that is not what this discussion is about, and it would involve a rather lot of people being killed.

The age of consent varies across Europe, there is NO EU directive and individual Governments decide, as will our democratically elected one – without help or interference. That is what democracy requires.

  22. Robert: “Rob_N, you are wrong when you imply that vaginal sex carries less of a risk in contracting HIV. All it takes is a straight male with HIV to infect a woman that way. CITATION NEEDED
You are talking completely out of your ARSE! Anal sex is considered considerably more risky of a number of reasons:

    1) The lining of the rectum is soft and very prone to cuts and fissures.

    2) The lining of the rectum is a semipermeable membrane designed specifically to draw fluids from waste products to be then processed and filtered by the kidneys.

    3) The vaginal environment is actually hostile to human sperm, let alone the highly fragile HIV virus. It is highly acidic and most foreign cells have a very short time in which to reach their destination before being literally eaten away. Only bacteria and yeasts can withstand this to any degree.

    4) Why do you think AIDS was originally coined GRID? (Gay Related Immune Deficiency) – Simply because gay men were dying of it faster than any other sub-population. And why? Because they practised anal sex frequently.

    5) African heterosexuals are contracting it faster than others for two reasons: 1) They refuse to wear condoms, as it is deemed ‘unmanly’ and 2) No man will marry a ‘non virgin’ so in order for the girls to remain untainted, they have sex anally, which is considered to not affect their virginal status.

These are FACTS, and I have corroborative references if you so wish to research further. Please don’t spout utter bollocks purporting to be verbatim when you quite obviously know f_ck all about the subject.

  23. Greece and Gibralter are the only 2 places left in Europe not to have a fair and equal age of consent – may I ask why???????

  24. Sorry Greece does have an equal age of consent at 15 for all individuals sorry for my mistake – I guess that just leaves outdated and as Paul Mitchell quoted “pathetic, just pathetic Gibraltar” in regards to not catching-up with the rest of Europe. Why does Government of Gibraltar have this silly and deeply embarrassing discrimination on the higher age of consent legislation imposed onto gay men – when Scotland, England, Wales, Jersey, Isle of Man and Guernsey, all have an equal and fair age of consent on all individuals?

It is a good thing that there is proposal for the Gordon Brown Labour Government in the UK parliament at Winesminter to “force” an ORDER should they continue to have outdated, unequal and unfair age of consent laws imposed just on gay men. I would not be at the least bit surprised that the Chief Minister of Gibraltar is a “cheap bigoted homophobic scumbag”, stuck in the gay men’s closet back in 1956!!!!

  25. Both Northern Ireland and Ireland also have a fair and equal age of consent as well (I forgot these)!!!!

  26. Gay Activist Paul Mitchell 3 Apr 2010, 12:02pm

All this talk on AIDS – where did it all start and how, where did it originate from and then you will find the answer????!!!!

    Monkeys?????

Back in 1930 or 1960 etc???

How did it get into the gay community????

Cases of AIDS poped up in the 1980′s?????

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_AIDS

  27. Gay Activist Paul Mitchell 3 Apr 2010, 12:04pm

The proposed ORDER should include Bermuda as well – since they also have an unequal/unfair age of consent set at 18 for gay men (16 for lesbians and heterosexuals).

“LGBTQI? WTF did THAT come from?
“Now are you sure you didn’t leave anyone out?”

Quite possibly; Pink News followers are an expanding heterogeneous group of people whose sexual orientation and gender identity are individually separate and distinct entities… that need to be regarded and legislated as such… not only in any amendment to British Overseas Territories’ but ALL present gay and gender-variant omissive Human Rights Laws… as a 76-year-young twenty-six-year-postoperative Anglo-Danish Mancunian-born Bermudian transsexual woman I happen to be but one of many diverse folk negatively effected by Britain’s feeble approach to date in requiring British Overseas Territories remove homo- trans- phobic legal firewalls and inequalities from their present territorial laws…

So please stop having a laugh at my and my fellow colonial LGBTQI’s expense…

    Sincerely…

    Brenda Lana Smith, R.af D.

You are just SO full of sh!t.

    “As a 76-year-young twenty-six-year-postoperative Anglo-Danish Mancunian-born Bermudian transsexual woman”

I reiterate: “Are you sure you didn’t leave anyone out?”

OMG, Rob_N… what a sad obnoxious, egotistical, foul mouthed xeno- trans- phobic vacuous ageist commenter you unwittingly paint yourself out to be. And, yes, before you ask—for the sake of proprietary—I have left out more descriptive, less flattering words of yourself…

That assumption done and dusted… let’s unite and get back to combatting those who would deny us our freedom of sexual orientation and gender-identification…

    Brenda…
