Question for Nick Herbert: How will getting rid of the Human Rights Act benefit the LGBT community?
Let’s hope they don’t all bleat on about the “gay vote” as though each and every gay person will vote exactly the same way because of who we sleep with. Patronising or what?
Of course we can’t have opinions on Iran, tax, deficits or Europe – we can only think about gay marriage and the Pope.
As long as we can see the voting records we don’t need hustings. Actions speak louder than words.
@2 Of course we can have opinions about many issues. I do tend to put a parties general views about ME first though.. (before thinking about Iran, tax, deficits or Europe etc).
I tend to think that any party that wants to discriminate against me, or seeks to curtail my civil rights, and will not treat me as an equal member of society, (not a special case, but equal), does not get my vote… no matter if they might want to give me tax breaks!
People should give Lynne Featherstone a warm welcome as she has consistently supported LGBT issues in parliament and is a credit to her party.
She is one of the few MPs to get up and oppose the Labour governments shameful sell out of the LGBT in the equality bill debate.
