Hate mail from ‘christians’ – who’d have believed it, eh? I hope their protests had the opposite effect from the one they hoped and just made Miley more determined to stand up for gay people and less accepting of that peculiar fundie brand of bigotry they have the cheek to call Christianity.

To think Gordon Brown or David Cameron and their parties can’t even say what Miley said, let alone support the freedom to legally marry the one we love, and yet gays keep on on voting for people who aren’t interested in full equality for an entire group of taxpayers and voters. I am very pleased that Miley Cyrus has said this – good for her.
There are lots of non-homophobic Christians. The Unitarians (not all of whom identify as Christians; we include Humanists, mystics, Pagans, Buddhists etc) have been LGBT-inclusive and affirming since 1977. The Quakers have been inclusive of LGBT people and gave had blessings of same-sex relationships for ages. The Metropolitan Community Church is run by & for LGBT Christians. And there are many LGBT-affirming groups within other denominations. I am not a Christian, but let’s get the facts correct before we dismiss all Christians as homophobes.
