Boy George and George Michael are on speaking terms after 20 years.

The pair, who are both gay, fell out in the 1980s over Michael’s refusal to come out of the closet.

In 2005, George said: “People saw me as the benchmark gay man while George was passing himself off as a straight stud.

“In fact, he was loitering in public loos like some pre-war homosexual. It’s one thing to keep quiet. It’s another to pretend you’re someone you’re not.”

Michael did not come out until 1998, when he was caught propositioning a police officer in a US public toilet.

George said: “I don’t really see George Michael but we have exchanged emails recently and things are pretty good between us. He seems to be doing okay right now.”

He added he had not given the star any advice on beating drugs, saying: “You don’t really tend to offer it – but I might give it if asked.”
