  1. I hope he finds a better balance of life now and makes a full recovery. It shows he has integrity that he chose to step down rather than taking taking a paid sabbatical like so many politicians do.

It seems Glasgow city council and its political parties need to look at the pressure they put on Steven Purcell and learn the lessons.

I hope you make a speedy and full recovery Steven Purcell, and that you go onto bigger and better things.

  2. A sad loss For the city of Glasgow, though not surprising as he was under a lot of pressure at the chambers, pressure put on him from his fellow labour councillors some who in recent weeks came under tight scrutiny and stepped down.
A few more shocks will be evitable over the coming months, as know of one that will blow the socks off labours elite, so watch this space
Steven Purcell was a gentleman as have met him on a number of occassions, a true gentleman who will be hard to replace at the top.
All the best for the future Steven, and a speedy recovery

a gentleman indeed who has presided over the Religious Radicaliaation of glasgow, corruption at the top, the decay of Glasgow’s housing Stock…

    Goodbye Stevie and gooid riddance.

Labour in Glasgow is absolutely mired up to the neck in corruption right now. I have no doubt Purcell wan an honourable man, but I think more will come out on who pushed him.

Many in Scotland are now realising the extent of corruption in Glasgow council – though so far Purcell is not involved.

    A small heads up here.

There is NO SUCH THING as “Scottish Labour” for him to be the leader of. No Scottish Labour party exists only the British Labour party of whom there are Scottish members.

Glasgow is indeed neck deep in muck. I don’t know if Purcell is an honourable man who was pushed or fled from coming scandal but don’t make any mistake. Glasgow abounds in dirty politics and the BLP has controlled it for decades.

Well well… this the start of the council’s “gay mafia” begining to lose sight and feel of the place and the feelings of the people of Glasgow, the people that really matter the tax payer…
Time and time agin this council and its senior officials have spat in the face of the most needy in this city, withdrawing funding from many community based facilites, corruption of councillors, ( no doubt a few still/will follow) and now the resignation of Steven Purcell
The fact that he got HIS solicitor to do this for him and NOT the council, kinda gives the impressions even Steven Purcell didnt trust his own people many of whom will now turn their back on him, and they all know who they are.
I dont have a problem with SP, it’s the council in general and the people he had under him, its because of their dirtiness and their corrupt ways that has made him resign his position of labour leader and its his so called “friends” that have caused this to happen.
If you read these comments Steven, please believe this, there were a few in your own party that wanted you out, they got what they wanted in the end.

I wish you well in your recovery.
