Simon, that’s a bit harsh. ‘Suffered’ is the word usually used for medical conditions, and there’s a lot of ignorance in the media in general about diabetes. I just think it’s sad that someone with access to the best healthcare died from a preventable condition. I did think her death might be related to her diabetes, but, because of her reported drinking, assumed she could have had a severe hypo.
She seems to have had a number of problems – maybe they were of her own making, we don’t know – but it’s rumoured that family difficulties caused her a lot of stress. She might have put on a happy face, but she never looked completely happy and relaxed to me.
I know I found this link way late but learned my lesson 3/23/10 and almost died the same exact way only there are more factors to get that bad like drinking with your meds also.

“Johnson had reportedly suffered from diabetes since childhood.”
Hrrrrmmmmppph!
I’ve been diabetic for 30 years (since I was 4).
I’d hardly living with this condition as ‘suffering’.
Then again I’m not a drug addict.
