It says here: ” If the case is successful, it would reverse years of such legislation.” I can’t be sure, but I think the intended meaning is “If the case were to be successful in the Supreme Court” [which is unlikely for the reason given] “it would reverse years of such legislation”. Maybe so, but matters of public policy *should* be challenged in the courts – it’s one of a number of ways that social attitudes can be changed. Broadcasting the proceedings to the world is part of the process.

Whether witnesses should enjoy anonymity is debatable. Maybe if they genuinely believe what they’re saying, they should be prepared to “bear witness” publicly, in the grand American tradition. The would only need protection if gay opponents were threateningly radicalised, and I don’t know enough about that to comment.

Our enemies, who would tamper with our lives and deprive us of the equality, must not be permitted to conceal their identities behind white robes and masks. The KKK is gone!
