I am sure she is perfectly qualified to do the job which is the main reason for her appointment.

That said, it is easy to understand why people would regard her appointment as tokenistic, considering Obama’s steadfast refusal to honour his pre-election promises to lift DADT and DOMA.

  2. it will be seen at the end of his term whether her appointment was part of the whole thrust towards “queer” rights, or whether she’s been used to cover his shortcomings.

I fear he will be a one-termer: if he loses his liberal backing he hasn’t got a majority

    You go, girl.

Whatever the political motivation behind your appointment, you now have a voice to be heard by the masses. Use it.

Well she won’t dare criticise Obama for his shameful refusal to honour his pre-election promises to get rid of DADT and DOMA. She will toe the Obama line entirely now. Her job depends on it.

Well Obama’s job depends on votes. And he is at risk of losing his LGBT support because of his dishonesty and cowardice about LGBT issues.

Notice how Focus on the Family pipe up every time that someone from the LGBT community does well or our rights are acknowledged? It didn’t surprise me to learn that they are a Christian group… That just about says it all, doesn’t it?
