another bigotted country in this benighted continent that persecutes while wanting handouts

  2. Wow they sure are fast to take out a gay couple for getting married..
Too bad they seem extremely relaxed regarding REAL crimes, I guess its easier to go after a gay couple than it is say a murderer?

Bigotry served on a silver plate.

If you could just do this for stupid people like me it would be helpful thank you.

Landlocked country in southeast Africa, that was formerly known as Nyasaland. It is bordered by Zambia to the northwest, Tanzania to the northeast, and it borders Mozambique on the east, south and west. The country is separated from Tanzania and Mozambique by Lake Malawi. Its size is over 118,000 km with an estimated population of more than 13,900,000. Its capital is Lilongwe, the biggest city is Blantyre. The name Malawi comes from the Maravi, an old name of the Nyanja people that inhabit the area.

Malawi was first settled during the 10th century and remained under native rule until 1891 when it was colonised by the British, who ruled the country until 1964. Upon gaining independence it became a single-party state under the presidency of Hastings Banda, who remained president until 1994, when he was ousted from power. Bingu Mutharika, elected in 2004, is the current president. Malawi has a democratic, multi-party government. Malawi has a small military force that includes an army, a navy and an air wing. Malawi’s foreign policy is pro-Western and includes positive diplomatic relations with most countries and participation in several international organisations

Malawi is among the world’s least developed and most densely populated countries. The economy is heavily based in agriculture, with a largely rural population. The Malawian government depends heavily on outside aid to meet development needs.

  4. I think it is time for countries like this with homophobic laws and a reliance on aid to see their aid made conditional on human rights improvements, including those of LGBT people.

Good luck to these trail-blazing heroes.

I hope Madonna steps in and adopts them.

  6. We must introduce sanctions against nations which practice gay hatred such as Malawi, Iran and Zimbabwe – an embargo on all tourism or trade and the withdrawal of foreign aid until they lift their hideous state sponsored repression of their gay communities. We can all start today by boycotting any goods from these countries and never visiting them, and encouraging all our families, friends and work colleagues to do likewise.

  7. We should cut off all tourism industry ties and severe all aid with these backward countries. In my opinion, they dileberately chose to be backward, and thus, they suffer with a bad economy and poverty.

Evolve or die. We need to stop the handouts.

  8. I dont want to upset my British comrades on here but everywhere the British colonised, homosexuality was banned. Look at South America, the only country still with laws against homosexuality is Guyana. Guess who was the colonial power there?
I think that what is happening in Africa is that the evangelicals are so ‘losing’ in the Old World that they are operating bigtime in the New World. Thus the African churches and regimes violence and discrimination against its gay citizens. Also, African leaders are mostly heterosexual males and they are very much against women and gay rights because they will start to lose the battle for social and political power. Long live the revolution because unless the violence, greed and dsestruction of the heterosexual male can be lessened , the planet is doomed. We had ‘The Womens’ Social and Political Union ‘ but now we need ‘The Anyone Accept Straight Males Political and Social Union’ to have world freedom and a decent planet to live on!
