Katy Perry has been accused of transphobia after using Twitter to mock a photo of a trans man.

The singer, who found fame with her faux-lesbian hit I Kissed A Girl, posted a photo of a naked man with a beard, hairy chest and breasts.

She wrote: “NSFW! I knew those little white last week of the birth control pills would still have an effect on your body! FU.”

She was apparently referring to the ‘reminder’ pills in the contraceptive pill, which do not contain hormones.

Perry tweeted the image to @MDMOLINARI, or Markus Molinari, who is seen in a Twitter photo dressed up as her.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation attacked her for the remark, saying on its blog: “Making fun of transgender people’s bodies is deeply offensive. Perry’s ridicule dehumanises this person and ignores the courage and resolve it takes to live within a transphobic society.

The gay group urged Perry’s followers to retweet a message saying it was “never ok” to ridicule the bodies of trans people.

Gay US news site Queerty described her as an “annoying fake lesbian”, adding: “As ridiculous as Perry’s tweet is, it shows the hetero gal is quite unfamiliar with the LGBT community – once she felt comfortable exploiting in her rise to fame.”
