A Brighton man died during auto-erotic asphyxiation, an inquest heard this week.

Stuart Leonard, 35, was found dead in August under a tree at Dukes Mound, a local cruising spot.

According to the Argus, the inquest heard he had temporarily hanged himself to heighten sexual pleasure but had accidentally killed himself.

His partner of six years Darren Farley said Leonard would often go to the spot after the couple had argued and had practiced auto-erotic asphyxiation before.

Deputy coroner for Brighton and Hove John Cooper said there had been no reason for him to commit suicide.

He said believed Leonard died accidentally when the sex act went wrong.

A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
