Welsh radio star Chris Needs has revealed that he has been the target of death threats after revealing his sexual orientation.

According to the South Wales Evening Post, the DJ revealed in the second volume of his autobiography that he continues to receive abuse for being gay, including threats on his life.

He wrote: “Some people here in Wales have been really cruel to me.

“I still get a lot of insults about my sexuality and this makes it much harder to hang on to the job.

“I love what I do in the radio studio, talking to people and, of course, the music. But is it worth it?”

Needs’ first book was titled Like It Is. The follow-up, released this month, is named And There’s More.

In the book, he also describes how he would like to be a father one day but claims that people have said he shouldn’t even be around his baby godson because he is gay.

Needs began his career as a keyboard player. He later got a part in Welsh language TV soap Pobol y Cwm and now has thousands of regular radio listeners.
