Thank you so much for your forgiveness and your wise advice, Brian. Plus I can see that your words really come from the heart. I’m so sorry that you were ill and I hope that you are well on the way to recovery now. I feel so bad about what I wrote. You’re so kind when you say that I’m a person of character, but I’m afraid that for much of the time I don’t live up to being a decent person and when I wake up and see this I live to regret it. I say things and regret saying them afterwards because I realize that I become exactly as bad as the things (like the BNP) that I denounce. In contrast, I doubt I could ever be so strong and such a great teacher as you – you must have been through so much. God bless you and your partner and thank you xxx for your wisdom.

Sorry I was such an a**hole, Brian. Re-reading my initial posts nos.8 to 10 I can now see how many people would have found it offensive as it probably is difficult to work out whether I’m having poking fun at the anti-trans right-wing religious extremists (of any religion) or if I’m actually one of them. I wrote some fairly provocative things there – I’m supportive of Jo’s play – I think it’s a great idea and the intention was to poke fun at some of the narrow-minded people who were protesting against the play – but I can see where such an approach can backfire. I’m sorry if I made other people feel upset or uncomfortable, too and I’m particularly sorry for being so obnoxious to you, Brian. I feel really embarassed and ashamed now – thanxxxxx for being much smarter and stronger than I could ever be – you’ve probably got enough to deal with, without idiots like me screaming irrational insults at you over the Internet. I really need to stop behaving the way I do – and be a bit less paranoid and a LOT more mentally balanced for starters. Anyway, take care and look after yourself, honey x

Brian, I’d like to apologize for some of awful things I wrote about you the other day on this and other threads.

I was upset about what you wrote about me, and I don’t know why you wrote it because my comments were intended to be a satirical attack on the BNP and far-right religious bigotry. Like most people in this country, I DO NOT love the BNP and DO NOT and WILL NOT vote for them. I feel that either you misinterpreted my comments as anti-semitic support for the far-right – or (and I sincerely hope this isn’t true) you are trying to wind me up because you are a member of the far-right yourself.

Either way, there is NO EXCUSE for some of the disgusting comments I posted against you afterwards and I’d like to make a request that the Pink News mods delete them, please – as much of my rants are totally nasty, entirely baseless, hurtful and deeply unfair to you. I still believe your assertion that I sympathise with holocaust-denying BNP to be totally unfair, too – but the things you said about me are nowhere near as nasty and disgusting as the things I said to you. There was no excuse for me losing my temper in such a fanatical way. I’d had a very bad day and I was drunk and I lost my self-control – but again, that’s no excuse.

In short: I’m ashamed of the pathetic way I reacted towards your criticism and consequently the way I behaved towards you. I’ve wronged you and I’m very sorry, Brian.

Hmm. I sometimes wonder if people write this crap just to stir up a hornet’s nest. (Sound familiar? )

On one hand, folk go into apoplexy over some ambiguously written article in a daily rag about some has-been gay pop star, and there are calls to the police, yet stuff like this isn’t seen as antagonistic, at best.

What’s good for the goose is also good for the gander. I really don’t mind either way, but let’s have a level playing field, can we?
