Wow, I was a pupil at the Harvey Grammar School from 1960-1968, what a small world this is, Folkestone being my birthplace. I don’t think this young should have felt the need to resign either.
I can sort of understand why he resigned though. His position would have been untenable in the school – every 1 of his pupils (and their parents) would know that he had appeared in a porno. That would make for a very awkward situation. Can you imagine the Parent-Teacher meetings?
Silly billy. Some professions just don’t mix with porn. Can’t teach kids while their looking at photos of your willy. Sam’ll have to find a different career. Buddy porn stars beware.
I’m in agrement with alot of comments here, I don’t see how his job would still be viable concidering his pupils would forever know him as the gay porn teacher! However in today’s supposed multiple-cultural and tollerant sociaty he Shouldnt HAVE to quit, would it be the same if it was Gay porn?
All seriousness to one side has anyone found any of his ‘work’ on the net? Got any links anyone?
Unfortunately I have to agree, when it comes to appearing in porn, secondary school pupils are even more likely to revel in selacious gossip about teachers than the twitchy net curtain brigade or the readership of the Daily Mail.
Maintaining authority over a class sending your unedited highlights to each other over the internet is a near impossible task. And PE teachers aren’t exactly everyone’s favourite teachers in the first place, the temptation to stick the boot in at every opportunity would be overwhelming.
That said, it does beg the question, who was the pupil or parent who “just happened to stumble on it while innocently surfing the net”? Hypocracy much?
I’ve been a teacher in a previous life, and most of my students knew I am gay. I would tell them if they asked whether I was married / had a girlfriend, and the gossip network would subsequently do its job. This was not a problem, because most pupils knew how to distinguish what was public (“Mr Weide has got a male partner”) and what was private (“whatever they get up to in bed”).
Predictable, isn’t it, how most Daily Mail comments fail to make this simple distinction? Of course, the rabidly homophobic posts (“gay teachers should be kept out of boys’ schools”) fail to see, as usual, the difference between a teacher’s partners and his pupils. But interestingly, the supportive comments of outrage at Handley’s suspension equally fail to see that what happens in the bedroom belongs in the bedroom, and not in the classroom. And it has nothing to do with the need to be a role model, whether that idea is outdated or not. How would any teacher set about gaining respect from students who have seen their private bits or read their intimate fantasies?
According to the online petition set up by his friends, he has the support of his pupils and wants to carry on teaching – so as to the question ‘How would any teacher set about gaining respect from students who have seen their private bits or read their intimate fantasies?’ – why not let him have a try?….He would have to be a brilliant teacher to achieve that:-)
I really hope he can get over this and get a position maybe at a University or at least in a post where he can use his skills he has from all the training he has had.
Good luck SAM!
He probably needed the cash to pay off his student loan (so I blame the Govt!) However, perhaps doing a stiffy and a pop shot is not the best way to advance your acadmenic career…….!

He’s a hotty – wish my PE teahcer looked like that.(No offence Mr Ratcliffe)
Strangely the quest for a pic took me to the Daily Mail website – some of you might be surprised by the largely supportive comments about this chap.
Thats surprising, considering he would have been sacked in America
So… where’s the link?!
Oh, how stupid can you get? Did he honestly think something like this would not come back and bite him?
I wish this type of thing was no big deal. It really isn’t a big deal. What a prudish lot society still is.

The eleventh commandment applies here: Thou shalt not be found out!
It’s good that he wasn’t fired – he resigned.
I can sort of understand why he resigned though. His position would have been untenable in the school – every 1 of his pupils (and their parents) would know that he had appeared in a porno. That would make for a very awkward situation. Can you imagine the Parent-Teacher meetings?
It really sucks that something he probably did because he needed money would come back and bite him in the behind.
Well I hope than he got a reasonable sum from Nick Baker at Englishlads. It must have been the most expensive wank Sam Handley ever had.

Why is this even mentioned if you’re not going to show the photos????
Despicable that this young man is driven from his job, having committed no crime and harmed no one. Prudery and hypocrisy have won the day.

I don’t see why he should be sacked etc
his private life and the photos don’t affect his ability to teach

It’s the end of a chapter, not a book, for gawd’s sake. The guy is only 25.
You can see some of the photos here
Drop-dead gorgeous!
