Unfortunately more scottish police force members need to ensure they are not perceived as being homophobic if they want LGBT people to feel they are approachable about such matters.
Yes, there are LGBT liason officers who do an amazing job, and also there are third party LGBT support groups if people don’t wish to report crimes directly to the police themselves, but I still think there is much work to be done to challenge homophobia amongst other officers. I for one know (through a relative) that there is without question still many officers who are homophobic. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to criticise all of them, there are good ones, but its still a problem needing to be addressed.
