I wish them all the best… There’s such a long way to go for LGBT equality in Russia – I’d not walk openly holding the hand of my girlfriend in Moscow as it is now! It’s heart warming to see people with this level of conviction for their equality standing up and doing something about it.
Now if every gay couple in the UK from now on would forego civil partnerships, get married in a country that allows us to marry such as Holland, Spain, Belgium, Norway or Sweden, then return to the UK, we could start a powerful movement for full marriage equality. Imagine hundreds of thousands of us doing that. It would make a strong argument to allow us marriage, if we so choose.
Robert, I have. We married in Ottawa in October and have since, when asked on applications etc… ticked “married” rather than “civil partner”. I will never get a civil partnership!

All the best, Irina and Irina!

Oops! Meant August not October! Oh dear, I’m already getting the date wrong!
