A second suspect has been arrested by New York police investigating the homophobic beating of a 49-year-old man.

Jack Price is in a medically-induced coma after being beaten by two men outside a 24-hour deli in College Point, Queens, on Friday.

Daniel Rodriguez, 21, was arrested and taken into custody last night. He was found in Norfolk, Virginia, and is being returned to New York.

Another man, Daniel Aleman, 26, was arrested on Sunday and charged with assault and aggravated assault as a hate crime. He faces 15 years in prison if convicted.

Police believe the attack on Price was a homophobic hate crime as two men shouted anti-gay slurs as they beat him.

He suffered broken ribs, a fractured jaw and a lacerated spleen. His condition was described as serious but stable yesterday, but no further information has been released.
