Gay TV presenter Paul O’Grady is reportedly about to sign a contract with ITV after saying he would never work with the broadcaster again.

The comedian, who used to play drag queen Lily Savage, has been at Channel 4 for four years but threatened to leave after learning that his chatshow would face a 50 per cent budget cut.

According to the Guardian, he is currently in talks with ITV executives over a one-year deal which could be announced today.

The deal is thought to involve between eight and 12 peak-time chatshows.

In September, rumours abounded that Graham Norton would be leaving the BBC to take over O’Grady’s slot on Channel 4.

However, Norton’s agent quashed the rumours.
