  1. That gender imbalance dates back to WWII (See Randy Shilts’s “Conduct Unbecoming.” Women in the military violate antique gender “norms,” so they’ve always been viewed with suspicion and more actively investigated.

  2. The figures don’t surprise me. My ex, a colonel in the US Army, was terrified of us being seen together, even out buying groceries. All it takes is one snoop and you can be out……….
    It’s a cruel policy. Mind you, they don’t mind at all if you give your life, then you still get a flag on your coffin!

    So, the ‘Serving In Silence’ culture still abounds as well as don’t tell etcetra. What a stupid, backward way of going on in the US military. The US Military machine is certainly becomming a bankrupt orgonisation. In every battle fought through the annals of time, the Gay element was present right there in the midst of it.
