LGBT servicemembers’ party returns on Saturday
The next London party for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans members of the armed forces and emergency services is to be held in Soho this Saturday.
It has been organised by Lance Corporal James Wharton, the openly gay British Army serviceman who was featured on Soldier magazine earlier this year.
Although Saturday’s event in Ku bar is aimed at the public services such as the MOD, Army, police, Navy, RAF and fire brigade, attendees are free to bring guests and anyone is welcome.
LCpl Wharton told PinkNews.co.uk: “Last month, 80 people turned up, and it was a fantastic night out. It was great to see many faces from many different departments of the public services.”
This Saturday, the event will be holding a raffle to raise money for Help for Heroes. a charity formed to help soldiers wounded in action. The prize is a magnum of champagne.
LCpl Wharton said: “Help for Heroes needs people like us to support them, because if we didn’t, thousands of injured servicemen would be left to rely on the minimal support they receive off the government to fund all the caring costs.
“The charity is doing fantastic work supplying resources for extremely wounded soldiers on the lifelong course, in some cases, of rehabilitation and care.
“We will be holding a raffle on the night and also have Help for Heroes wristbands on offer for a small donation.”
