Speakers for next month’s National Equality March in Washington DC have been announced.

The event, held to coincide with National Coming Out Day, is on October 11th.

More than 30 speakers have been selected, including long-time activist Cleve Jones, who worked alongside murdered San Francisco supervisor Harvey Milk.

Others are Judy Shepard, mother of murdered gay teenager Matthew Shepard, Lt Dan Choi, who was sacked from the US Army for being gay, and Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.

Activist David Mixner, who has helped organise the event, will also be speaking.

“We are coming to Washington with new messages and new strategies to build our national movement,” he said. “We will have one demand in Washington: full and equal protection for LGBT people in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.”
