Why, Jo? Only white men can afford expensive tickets? Is that the case with, for example, Madonna concerts too?

  5. AngieRS, sorry, to clarify, (as you must not have read it fully) ‘Paul O’Grady for At My Mothers Knee’…..for his BOOK. Now whether or not it deserves a ‘writer of the year’ award is, I suppose a matter for the judges to decide as opposed to ‘snarky’ comments on a website. :-)

BrazilGayScene, Nay, nay, and thrice nay!
All these money grabbing media types are there stricktly for their own glorification. The first question in their minds is alwasys ‘How Much!’ I remember many so called ‘Stars’ who have attended Charity functions and charged them the earth to just be there to wave to the crowd. Awards Make me puke!

  9. But awards also get people in the community recognised – there maybe a lot of celebrities on this list – but do you KNOW everyone? Have a look at the ones you don’t know and find out what they’ve done for gay and lesbian people…

People should be recognised – and good luck to them all – particularly the non-celebrities
