  1. The village in Liverpool is needed as Canal street in Manchester has been over run now by the tourists and stag and hen nights. Its becoming just another vanilla area now with all the hate crimes you would expect in the vanilla world.

Stick the Village concept in anyway. Liverpool is as Gay as it is homophobic. Now one of the afor mentioned must go! The alternative is to loose all humanity.

Well you couldn’t possibly know that unless you lived there? I live in Liverpool and have travelled lots and lived elsewhere. Liverpool is no more homophobic than most of the cities I’ve been to, including Manchester, which by the way has seen an increase in homophobic crimes. To say it is, is basing your opinion on pure stereotype, which is boring and a little bit ignorant. Liverpool’s gay village is already there, putting a few bollards up won’t change anything, it just makes the area safer.

    Michael L,
Diddy dum dum was to see if my comment was printed in answer to your comment above…It was’nt! Lets try again!

My intension was to get a debate going about Liverpool’s Gay Village. Every Bloody City should do as Liverpool and add a Gay Village. Why? Because it will make Gays feel they have some Island of sanctuary in each City to go to. The trouble is Michael, Liverpool is not in the South, this is why people never think of a wonderful place like Liverpool. Only Liverpudlians talk about Liverpool!

I know it’s a sad state of affairs when Southerners think England ends at the Midlands! But Manchester’s done pretty well selling itself as a hub of homo shenanigans, so we’ll have to wait and sew how this bodes in Scouse land? I think it needs to start with educating our southern friends that shell suits died out here in the eighties, and you’ve actually got more chance of getting your hub caps stolen in Manchester! :)
