Jonathan Ross’s house band, 4 Poofs and a Piano, have joined a campaign for a day of same-sex hand-holding on Saturday 26th September.

The campaign, shortened to Sshh!, encourages LGBT couples across the globe to hold hands in public,

Ian Parkin, vocalist with the band, said: “Same-sex couples should feel absolutely able to declare their love in public, and hand holding is a simple, yet powerful way to do this. I believe that seeing a same-sex couple holding hands in public challenges homophobia and raises awareness of the realities of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender lives.”

Campaign founder Dave Watkins circumvented fears of immediate danger for couples in intolerant countries on BBC Radio 5 with mention of his own experience of such violence, stating that he desired to turn the “feeling of anger and defiance” into “something positive” in this campaign.
