Atlanta demonstrators brave rain to protest gay bar raid 1
5:51 PM — Sixty demonstrators stood in driving rain on Saturday outside Atlanta City Hall to protest over the recent police raid of a gay bar. Claiming homophobia was the reason for the swoop, they denounced police for their handling of the affair.

Man pleads guilty to assault in gay man’s death 4
5:27 PM — A Washington DC man has pleaded guilty to assaulting a gay man who later died from his injuries. Robert Hannah, 19, was initially charged with manslaughter over the death of Tony Randolph Hunter but this was reduced to one charge of misdemeanor assault.

Teacher jailed for lesbian affair 21
12:45 PM — A London teacher who admitted having an affair with a 15-year-old female pupil has been jailed for 15 months. Helen Goddard, 26, was sentenced at Southwark crown court this morning. She was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register.
