OK I know it’s fun to bitch about Elton and hands up I’ve done it myself, but I think caring for an HIV+ orphan in the full knowledge of what he’s taking on in terms of responsibility is actually more impressive than the average celeb “kid as a fashion statement” bandwagon jump.
Looking after an HIV+ child is a much more tangeable commitment to the cause than making charity donations from his vast disposable income.
I just hope he will take his parental responsibilities seriously and not simply hire a nanny when the going gets tough like so many other stars.
I’m struck by the attitude of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church … seems they would prefer the innocent child to remain in an orphanage than allow him to be cared for by two people who love him, and have the means to provice for any medical care that may be necessary. The UOC should be thoroughly ashamed if itself and its totally unChristian attitude!!!
I know what you mean. Personally, I’ve known bishops in the RCC who are more concerned with their vestments hanging and swaying properly than with any poor stranger who needs a bite to eat. This is true.
Why should I believe the Orthodox prelates are any different, power tripping bearded drag queens holding the cross in one hand and the collection basket in the other. It’s a business, like my pa always said.
So Sir Elton adopts a whole family in order to care for the boy. What a guy!!!
