A cross-party meeting is being held in Shoreditch, east London, after a reported spate of anti-gay attacks in the area.

Earlier this summer, the George and Dragon pub, a gay bar on Hackney Road, was reportedly surrounded by around 20 youths who tried to storm the pub and attacked smokers in the street.

There have also been claims of youths harassing drinkers at the Joiners Arms, another gay pub nearby.

A police meeting was held last month to encourage more victims of homophobic violence or abuse to come forward.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday October 1st and has been organised by Tower Hamlets Liberal Democrat leader Stephanie Eaton and licensee of the Joiners Arms, Dave Pollar.

Members from all main political parties will be in attendance, along with police officers.
