  1. Whilst I think it’s great that Nicole Kidman has taken this part, and doubtless she will do a good job, it’s a shame that they couldn’t find a transgendered acress to take the role.

Then again the film wouldn’t have got as much pulling power, I guess. At least there’s a film being made.

I agree wholeheartedly xaria. I’m sick of people proving their Liberalism by playing a Trannie. It’s, frankly, insulting.

  4. Felicity Huffman was great in TransAmerica and I felt she truly reflected the emotions of many trans people I have met. Further, the portrayal was so honest on her part it worked.

Nicole will not only bring a surperb acting skill to the role but will no doubt act as a voice piece for trans rights when the film is shown. Getting people talking about these issues is a start…

  5. To be effective in countering the “freaks” image most people have of trans people, it needs a really big name. Hilary Swank did a tremendous job in “Boys Don’t Cry”, I doubt whether a trans actor could have done better. Let’s hope Kidman does as well.

This is fantastic news! We don’t know what living in fear does to person until we take an interest in the lives of Trans. And Nicole Kidman will pull this off like the pro she is. At last Hollywood is responding to the needs of the Rainbow community with substantial movies.

How could Arnold Swartzenneggar refuse to declare Harvey Milk Day now?

Should be an interesting movie. I agree with you Ryan, Felicity Huffman was superb in ‘TransAmerica’
