I think protests need to make a big come back including gay youth. People are so laid back about our rights these days we could see them taken from under our noses if we’re not careful especially if the Tories come back to power!

  2. When Gays pay council tax . . . the money his council collects from us is gay money, and we want it to represent our community interets as well:

    * Community cohesion – which strives to challanging homophobic violence
    * Education – which is nonhomophobic
    * Services – which represent the needs of out community

Which bit of being a councillor does he not understand ?

The Pink Paper website is also running this story with a photo of this same Tory Councillor holding a life size gollywog. Right wing people pull stunts like this and then claim it does not make them racist or homophobic, that they are just exercising their right to free speech. Yes, we all have the right to free speech, but that does not mean we have to use it to demean or oppress minority groups.

In relation to the taxation issue, why do homophobic people think the ‘taxpayer’ argument works? Gay people pay taxes too, but most of us don’t have children – those extremely expensive, noisy, smelly things that cost a fortune to educate and inoculate. Next time a straight parent says they don’t want their taxes to be spent on gay youth projects, point out that gay people’s taxes are paying for those youth projects and for the schools and youth groups that straight kids go too as well.

I wonder what his reaction would be if this had been the reverse, to stop anti-straight behaviour and bullying? I think we’d see a very different response, would we not? So transparent where he’s coming from. The double standard rearing its ugly straight head again.

Just remember- if you vote Tory at the next election (for that “nice Mr Cameron”) this is what the Tory party REALLY stands for. People like Richard Eddy are the REAL voice of the Tories. Be warned-you will have years and years of this if they get in .

This type always seem to forget that those of us who happen to be gay also pay taxes we hardly ever use for the pathetic “services” they keep rattling on about.

How dare he, state that council tax money should only be for the breeders.

I only hope this chap comes into my A&E and I will be very clear as to his treatment if he dares to spout his bigotry.

It will be NHS bouncer out the door.

  9. Dr. Derek Northcote,

“This type always seem to forget that those of us who happen to be gay also pay taxes we hardly ever use for the pathetic “services” they keep rattling on about.”

Yeah, we all have to pay taxes for things we don’t want. Many things. If your parents hadn’t been ‘breeders’ you’d not be here.

“I only hope this chap comes into my A&E and I will be very clear as to his treatment if he dares to spout his bigotry.”

Have you signed the Hippocratic Oath? I’ve a good mind to find out where you practice and report you. If a heterosexual had written this about homosexuals, he’d be taking a long holiday.

  10. @Stewart Cowan – take a deep breath, Dr Derek Northcote is only voicing an angry opinion. Of course he wouldn’t do that if he were a genuine doctor.

The Conservatives are running true to form and fully represented by this twit of a councilor – homophobic forever.

What a philistine, an upholder of blind, mechanical forces in the political sphere. Clowns like this man also tries to speak with an air of superiority, with the meaning too obvious. Let us hope we can educate him!
