    This is great news and the unions deserve enormous credit for this. It isn’t going to be easy though, not at all!

  3. The answer to homophobia in football is surely to make individual clubs responsible for their fans behaviour and fine them. I would suggest a sliding scale. £100,000 for the first incident, increasing by the same amount for each individual incident after that. Fairly soon you would see some large fines imposed on the club, thereby decreasing their pool of cash for new players and the like. If the fans didn’t stop eventually they would push their beloved clubs into bankruptcy.

    The money could be donated to LGBT groups working to counter the effects of homophobia.
